Tape Backup Media
LTO backup media
Have you changed your backup media recently? If you're doing weekly backups, you would probably want to replace the tapes every two years. In the end, it's better to spend the money on new tapes as you could end up spending as much money or a lot more trying to do data recovery on one tape, or worse still, risk losing information critical to the operation of your organisation if a tape has become faulty.
If errors occur on your tapes, what should you do? As a rule of thumb, the first time a write error occurs on a tape media, the situation should be monitored closely. If a write error reoccurs, remaining data on the tape should be migrated and the faulty media replaced. If a read error occurs on a tape media, all remaining data on the tape should be migrated immediately and the faulty media replaced.
Diatec supply LTO 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 tapes at very competitive prices & normally from stock in our Dublin warehouse.

Fed up with tapes altogether? Have you looked at on-line backup? We can arrange to profile your existing data to determine what exactly your backup requirement is. We can see what data can be de-duplicated, what data is critical, what type of data is being backed up (file type) & when was the last time the data was accessed or updated. Visit Cloud Provisioned Services or talk to one of our Senior Account Managers on 01-8530661 or email us to discuss your requirements.
